About Us…
Hi, we’re Verity and Saffy and we formed The Bath Flower School in 2019 when an opportunity arose for us to work together. Between us we have over 50 years experience in flowers, floristry, weddings, events, flower schools and teaching. We both have very clear ideas about what makes a good flower school. This is our chance to put that into practice and inspire the future generation of florists.
Our classes are fun, informative, friendly and relaxed. Our teaching style is informal and generous. We pride ourselves on being approachable and personable. And of course the flowers will always take centre stage and be the best quality we can get our hands on. We like flowers to look as natural as possible, relishing natures twists and turns and imperfections. We work very closely with local growers and have always been leaders rather than followers when it comes to ideas and innovation.

Verity Porter
I am often referred to as the the hand tie queen! I have 17 years of experience in floristry, running my own business in Hertfordshire, freelancing for London florists, contract work, events, weddings and as a floristry teacher. With a background in banking, I am super organised in keeping on top of the business side of things - pretty much having a spreadsheet for everything. I love sharing my experience and knowledge with others and am passionate about teaching - It really is my perfect job! Foliage is a firm favourite of mine - I can quite often be found in a nearby bush foraging for something interesting.
Saffron Dodds-Smith
My first job was on a flower stall in West London when I was 14. Since then my life has never been without flowers. I have tons of experience both as a working florist and as a floristry teacher. I freelance in London, have run my own business in Bath. I consult, teach and design weddings and big events. But most of all I endeavor to inspire and help people gain skills and build confidence through my understanding of the aesthetic, creativity, all things flowers and human nature! I specialise in large scale installations and working out tricky mechanics. I make a mean coffee, am super enthusiastic and can’t ever walk past an interesting twig.
