FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS…

We hope the below answer your questions. If not, then we’d be delighted to help, please email us at hello@thebathflowerschool.com

  • Certainly! The courses have been created with a relaxed learning experience in mind, and for those who have no prior knowledge or expertise.

Both Verity and Saffy are accomplished and skilled florists. They'll give you all the guidance and support you need to create stunning flower arrangements.

For our Wedding Flowers Course and our Sustainable Large Scale Installation Course we do recommend that you have some prior floristry experience.

  • Yes! The Bath Flower School is completely foam free, we strive to minimise our negative impact on the environment at every opportunity therefore teach sustainable methods.

  • No. All equipment is provided by us at the flower school. If you would like to take photos of your work we would recommend bringing a camera – for most of us, that literally is your iPhone/android phone.

  • Our day courses and longer courses start at 10am and finish at 4pm with an hour break for lunch which is your time to do as you wish. We kindly ask that students arrive no earlier than 9.45 in order for us to prepare for you.

  • Yes of course! The only course where this isn’t the case is our Sustainable Large Scale Installations course, purely because the installations are too big!

  • Sadly not. However, there are some lovely options of cafes and a deli literally a stone’s throw from the flower school.

  • You can wear whatever pleases you and is comfortable. Most of the time you will be standing up or sometimes sitting on a high stool. Open toe shoes are not advisable for safety reasons. In the colder months our school can sometimes be a bit chilly, so worth bringing/wearing layers.

  • There are no extra costs. We provide tea, coffee, water and treats.

  • We like to keep the student numbers low, to ensure that we give you lots of time and attention for you to develop your skills.

It really depends on the course. For our shorter courses we have a maximum of 10, with the exception of our wreath workshops where we have 20 students.

For our Sustainable Large Scale Installations Course we limit the students to 6, purely due to the size of the work.

Other than that, our maximum number is 8 students per course.

  • Please refer to our Payments, Cancellations & Refunds Policy.

  • In most cases no. Purely because in all our years of teaching we have identified that there is always a low course uptake at these times of year, meaning it's difficult for us to get the numbers in order to be able to run the courses.

  • There are no certificates for our half day and one day courses.

Certificates are given for the following courses:
Sustainable Large Scale Installations Course, Sustainable Sympathy Flowers, Sustainable Floristry Foundations Course, Floristry Basics, Wedding Flowers Course & Professional Floristry Course.

  • Our certificates are awarded by us and not affiliated with any particular floristry body. To become a florist you do not need any formal qualifications.

  • NVQ’s and City and Guilds floristry is very much a more traditional method of teaching. The style of floristry is heavily governed by rules. Teachers will demonstrate floristry and then students replicate it.

At The Bath Flower School we throw away the rule book. Whilst we teach our students technically how to make something, we also encourage them to adopt their own individual style and to harness their own creativity. We also give our students the opportunity to select their own flowers, this again leads to them producing work which is individual and more reflective of their own style.
